“The Biggest Loser” star Jillian Michaels has revealed that contracted the coronavirus earlier this summer — as she warned people not to go to public gyms.
NEW YORK – Jillian Michaels revealed that she contracted COVID-19 after letting her guard down, and is warning people to consider before getting to a public gym.
The businesswoman and fitness trainer, who is understood for her appearances on “The Biggest Loser,” announced her positive test during while discussing her at-home workout app with Fox Business.
“If you’re scared of COVID, you ought to not attend the gym,” Michaels said. “I actually am an individual who let my guard down, I haven’t even spoken about this publicly really, and a really close friend of mine gave me COVID several weeks ago.”
Michaels spoke out during an interview with Fox Business host Liz Claman on Tuesday as she admitted she got sick after she “literally let her guard down for an hour with one among my best friends.”
As NYC prepares to re-open its gyms, she told viewers: “If you’re scared of COVID, you ought to not attend the gym. and that i actually am an individual who let my guard down, I haven’t even spoken about this publicly really, and a really close friend of mine gave me COVID several weeks ago.”
She added: “I’m fortunate to possess gone into it being healthy and that i was ready to get on the opposite side of it pretty quick. But, not most are that lucky as we all know . and every one I can tell you is that if you’re scared of getting COVID, a public gym is perhaps an area where you’ll catch on .
“And i might like to tell you that’s not the case, but the truth is I literally get my guard down for an hour with one among my best friends who does my hair and makeup and got it.
“It’s just that straightforward . So if you’re not during a mask which person isn’t during a mask, and that they have COVID and haven’t any idea — because, by the way, I had no concept I had it for 6 days [and] my friend had no concept she had it when she gave it to me — anticipate that you simply will likely catch on in an environment like that and if you’re scared of it, by all means, it’s not a move that i might recommend making.”
Governor Cuomo announced that each one gyms and fitness Centers could open by September 2, but indoor fitness classes could also be delayed. He added that gyms are required to work at 33 percent capacity and follow health and safety protocols, Including masks in the least times.
“So, it’s kind of fascinating,” Michaels told Claman. “On one hand, I deal with my businesses struggling and trying to keep the employees on board. Then with at-home business, the Jillian Michaels brand, we’ve indirectly benefited from this because people are afraid to go to the gym even if they are open in your area now.”
Michaels’ app offers free 7-minute daily workouts as well as premium exercise programs, meal plans and customization options. Access to the full app is $14.99 per month for a “regular membership” while more exclusive subscriptions are $44.97 for three months or $179.88 for the year.
