‘Remdesivir’ treatment is applied to Trump who has corona and has difficulty breathing

Remdesivir treatment for Donald Trump who has corona and has trouble breathing

The health status of US President Donald Trump, who has caught coronavirus, is being followed with interest all over the world.

Trump, who was hospitalized this morning and learned that he had difficulty breathing from time to time, is given the drug ‘Remdesivir’, which is one of the drugs proven to be effective in corona treatment.
Sean Conley, the White House Doctor, made a statement regarding Trump’s health condition, who was treated at Walter Reed Military Hospital.

Stating that they applied the first dose of Remdesivir treatment to Trump in his statement, Conley said, “After our meetings with experts from Walter Reed and Johns Hopkins, I recommended that the President be taken to Walter Reed Military Hospital.

I can happily say that the President is in good condition and does not need oxygen supplements. We applied the first dose of Remdesivir treatment. “I am happy to report that the president is in a very good shape.”

However, the 74-year-old US President said in the morning on his Twitter account, “I think my situation is getting better. Thank you all. Love!” made the explanation.

Developed by the US pharmaceutical company Gilead against Ebola, Remdesivir leads the drugs with proven effects against the corona virus, for which a vaccine has not yet been found, together with Dexamethasone (Dexamethasone). Previously, in clinical studies on the drug in the USA, it was seen that Covid-19 patients reduced the need for oxygen support and helped shorten the duration of hospital stay. In the last statement made by Gilead, it was stated that Remdesivir reduced the risk of death in severe Covid-19 patients. The drug in question received emergency use approval by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in May.

What is Remdesivir, what are its effects?

While news about corona virus vaccine and drug studies come from many countries, the drug remdesivir used in corona virus treatment often finds itself on the agenda.

Remdesivir is a new antiviral drug in the class of nucleotide analogs. It was developed by Gilead Sciences as a treatment for Ebola virus disease and Marburg virus infections. Laboratory tests show that remdesivir is effective against a wide variety of viruses such as SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV. The drug was used in the treatment of the 2013-2016 West African Ebola virus outbreak. Although the drug appears to be safe, it is not particularly effective against filoviruses such as the Ebola virus.

In response to the 2019-20 coronavirus outbreak caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, Gilead provided remdesivir for “a small number of patients” in collaboration with Chinese medical authorities to examine its effects. Gilead also started laboratory tests of remdesivir against SARS-CoV-2. Gilead stated that remdesivir is “active” against SARS and MERS in animals.
