Ukrainian economy shrank by 1.5 percent in the first quarter due to coronavirus

Ukraine’s State Statistical Institute (Gosstat) published its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) data for the first quarter of 2020. Accordingly, seasonally adjusted GDP in Ukraine decreased by 0.8 percent in the first quarter of 2020 compared to the previous quarter and by 1.5 percent compared to the same period of 2019.


The Central Bank of Ukraine announced that the country’s economy is expected to shrink by 5 percent this year due to the measures taken for business and citizens in the Kovid-19 outbreak.
